American Industry Gets the job done
By the fall of 1941, much had already been done to prepare the economy for war, but it was still only partially mobilized. Although many companies were producing military equipment, most still preferred to make consumer goods. Soon the Great Depression was ending, demand went up, and sales started to rise. The government soon flooded major industries with orders for war materials. By 1942, almost all of the major industries were distributing war materials and the industries converted to war production as well.
